Small Town Mountain Strong

A feature documentary currently in production.

After Hurricane Helene tore through the mountains,
small towns in Western North Carolina fight to rebuild their way of life and the land they’ve called home for generations.

As businesses struggle to reopen, a deeper truth unfolds
about the Appalachian people, the land that remains, and how each must care for the other.

Director's Statement

When Hurricane Helene tore through my home town and nearly all of Western North Carolina, it left more than just physical destruction — it left stories, lives, and livelihoods disrupted. Small Town Mountain Strong is a tribute to the people and places of Appalachia that taught me how to persevere, work hard and take care of your own.

This film is community-led. The voices you hear on screen are not just subjects; they are collaborators, sharing their experiences, their struggles, and their hopes. My goal as a filmmaker is to amplify these voices in a way that feels authentic, empathetic, and human.

Through this work, I hope audiences will see the strength, determination, and interconnectedness that define these mountain towns. More than that, I hope viewers will feel the responsibility and possibility of showing up for their own communities, even in the aftermath of crisis. This is a story about recovery, resilience, and the enduring spirit of place — a reminder that even in the face of devastating storms, people continue to rebuild, together.

More than a film.

This is a community-led story that gives voice to these towns and creates real support for the communities themselves.
